I just love this picture. It's from our favorite hiking spot by Wrights Lake. There are huge slabs of granite to explore out there. The girls love it!

Bark and Lunge: Saving My Dog from Training Mistakes is the journey and struggles of a fearful/reactive dog named Isis and her owners Kari and Rob.
This book recently popped up in my "recommended for you" list on amazon. I'm always looking for a good dog book and I particularly like memoirs, too. It wasn't expensive on the digital format so I thought, why not and gave it a shot.

I recently realized that I have not featured Pandora on my blog at all. She has her own page but I've never really written about her. Anyways, she is my favorite of the three and is definitely my heart kitty. She is a black and silver mackerel torbie, medium hair in case anyone was wondering! She is the sweetest cat and loves cuddling.

Phoenix generally does not like going into the water. If she can't see the bottom she definitely won't go. Luckily this river is very clear!

I am so excited to be doing the "Writing Process Blog Tour"! It's a post that's been going around the blog community for a few weeks and invites tagged bloggers to answer three questions on their writing process. Then you tag three other bloggers to continue to tour. I've really liked reading about how other bloggers write their blogs and it's also very inspiring to me since my blog is so young. It's a great way to get to know other people, too!

For Zoe's Gotcha Birthday, we took her and Phoenix to Wrights Lake for a hiking trip! I absolutely love this area. It's "Desolation Wilderness" in the west from Lake Tahoe.

I really can't believe it's been 3 years since I got my baby girl. Zoe is the dog that completely changed my life and the way I view dogs and training. It's hard to imagine that three years ago today I was begging my husband to go with me to "just look at the dogs." I felt like I was the only groomer in the salon without a dog of my own and I desperately wanted one.
This is her Gotcha/Birthday Movie!

One of our favorite places is the beach. Here's Phoenix chasing her sister. Her ears do some weird things!! One of them flops all the way over when she's tired! :D

Since we are celebrating Zoe's special day on Sunday, today I'm sharing some of my favorite photos of her from the past three years. Yesterday I shared her very first day with us. So if you haven't seen that yet check it out! :D

One of our most favorite puzzle feeders other than stuffed kongs is the Kong Wobbler! This is such a fun toy and the girls definitely love playing with it while getting their meal.

One of my favorite things about Phoenix is that she picks things up from watching Zoe. She has such a wonderful "can do" attitude! It's definitely an "anything you can do, I can do better" kind of thing. She never wants to be left out of anything and she will try so hard to do everything Zoe does.

One of the things I miss most about living in Oregon happens to be this park and this grass field. It was gorgeous.

How many times have you heard someone say, "but I've tried everything!!!" If you frequent forums and other dog events you've probably heard someone say that. Maybe you've said it.

When I got Phoenix 22 months ago she was extremely reactive and motion sensitive. She would react to one of my cats walking by, she'd react to dogs walking by. She'd flip out if there was a fence between her and another dog and fence fight. She was impulsive and never stopped to think about anything she was doing, including biting another dog if they happened to get in her face. She was extremely frightened of people and would not even allow us to touch her.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go to the races! We saw whippets, italian greyhounds, ibizan hounds, afghan hounds and rhodesian ridgebacks! All the dogs were having such a great time and their people were so nice to us!

So we have some new neighbors and they are from the city. They've started feeding the wildlife.. (SIGH) which isn't so great... We now have frequent coyote, raccoon and skunk visitors... Luckily the girls have not been skunked yet! If your dog has been or is at risk of being sprayed by a skunk see this link on how to de-skunk your dog.

I started out training this by having her pick up a toy and target my hand and then slowly moved my hand over a basket but it wasn't working very well.
