Storm Warning on B&W Sunday

I thought this would be a fun edit to show everyone! This was taken when we hiked at Lost Lake when the storm clouds were rolling in. I just checked our forecast and it says it's going to rain the next couple of days. That's sort of the fun thing about Oregon. You never know what kind of weather you're going to have! One day it can be 80 degrees and the next day it can be 65 and raining. It keeps things interesting for sure!

Also, Storm Warning is the name of one of my favorite books by Mercedes Lackey. :D I thought it would make a great title for this post.

See you tomorrow on the black and white Sunday hop!

Hiking With Dogs Meetup! Fit Dog Friday

I recently joined a "hiking with dogs" facebook group for my area. I joined because I wanted to find out where the other dog people were hiking (for some new ideas of where to go) and potentially make some new friends. I was really excited when I found out that they do group meetups.

Trying to Focus on the Good

We've all had those days where things just don't go quite right. Where you roll out of bed and there's a dark cloud following you around and it's just not so great. I had one of those days yesterday! I woke up late and my husband and I had a miscommunication about me dropping him off at work. He thought I had decided to stay home so he was about to leave me here. I popped out of bed just in time to tell him to wait and then I had to rush and my brain was not fully awake by the time the girls and I hit the park.

Working the Field on B&W Sunday

I think this photo really captures what Oregon looks like right now. It's been dark and overcast for so many days. Hopefully the sun will make it out soon! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Photo Shooting the Girls! Sisters on Saturday

Whenever I do photo shoots we always warm up by doing some tricks first before I add product and a lot of the times I just do trick shoots. The girls have fun doing them and I need to practice some indoor photography. It's also good for them to practice posing together!

I'm really excited because I just got a 1/2 scholarship for the Fenzi Academy and I will be taking an online pet photography class through them! I love the Fenzi Academy and they offer a variety of different dog training classes so I would recommend checking them out! We've done several classes and I always enjoy them.

Tomorrow we are going to a doggie meetup! I'm hoping that Phoenix behaves herself. I'm going to take her along and see how it goes. She's been doing super lately but I will let everyone know how it goes!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Saturday! See you all tomorrow on the B&W Sunday hop!

Crazy for Bunnies on Fit Dog Friday

This week we only managed to get to Thousand Acres so I don't have any fun hiking places to tell you about. The girls and I did manage to finish our 30 miles in 30 days challenge, though. We did it in 7 days and I still have the rest of this month to rack up more miles for it.

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a great day. Today I have a review on a supplement called Rejeneril from My Ultimate Pet. Open Farm "Ethically Raised & Sourced Dog Food"

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having an awesome day! Today I have a product feature from an awesome company called Open Farm. Open Farm is Canadian based company that is family run and operated. At Open Farm they feel that the best ingredients are raised and grown by farmers who respect the animals under their care and the land they call home. They are first certified humane pet food! Certified Humane makes sure the animals are raised ethically and covers how the animals are fed, how they are handled and how much space they have. That means they don't use any meat that was produced from factory farming and the animals get to live natural lives with space! Certified Humane also covers the fish. All the fish in the Open Farm foods are caught fresh from the ocean.

I am really passionate about animal welfare and I was very excited when I was contacted about this food. I received my samples of the Open Farm dog food for free and I'm not being compensated to spread the word about Open Farm.

Snuggling Sisters on Monday Mischief

The girls don't often hang out together on the same bed because Zoe can be a bit crabby about her space. So whenever they do I always try to take pictures of it! Here they are just being super silly because I got the camera out! As you can see, they still love the sleeping bag from Alcott!

Phoenix goes Bird Watching on B&W Sunday

This structure is called "The Bird Blind" it's a pretty neat platform that sits in the heart of my favorite park. Inscribed in all of the wood pieces are all of the animals and plants that Lois and Clark found when they came to the Pacific Northwest. It's a pretty neat place. Both girls love coming up here.

Happy B&W Sunday everyone!

Hiking Lost Lake

Zoe & Phee pose at Lost Lake

Yesterday we drove two hours into Mt. Hood National Forest to go hiking at Lost Lake! Lost Lake has been on my to-do list since I saw a picture of my friend and her dog Graham there. It's a gorgeous spot and I decided I wanted to do it before the season started because it can get very busy, according to my research.

Andis Grooming Tools Review

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having an awesome day! Today we are reviewing some new grooming tools from Andis. Andis is an American-based company that provides high quality grooming tools for both pets and people. I've been using their products since I began my grooming career back in 2004! Since it's Spring and coming up on Summer I was so excited for the opportunity to try some new grooming tools out on my girls. Zoe has more of a double coat than Phoenix and she blows it out at least twice a year. If I don't keep up with the brushing there will be hair everywhere!

We received our new grooming tools in exchange for an honest review.

Not Turtley Enough For the Turtle Club - Wordy Wednesday

Zoe and Phoenix found a Red Ear Slider turtle at Thousand Acres on one of our previous hikes! They were really weirded out by the stinky moving "rock". Every time it would move they would both jump back. Zoe tapped it a couple of times very gently with her paw.

Doggie Dash (Mis)Adventure!

On Saturday we attended Portland's largest dog event of the year! Doggie Dash! It's a "race" type of an event where the proceeds go towards helping homeless animals. It's either walk or run and it's not timed. Both of the girls were super excited and definitely ready to participate. If you haven't already, check out our Doggie Dash Throwback post for more pictures of the girls at past Doggie Dash events.

Fit Dogs Under The Rainbow!

This week we've been mostly just walking out at Thousand Acres. Yesterday morning it was raining off and on but the sun came out and there was a brilliant rainbow off in the distance. It was fading fast and I was only able to capture a bit of it.

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having an awesome day! Today we are reviewing "Summit Trex" Dog Boots from Ruffwear. Ruffwear is an amazing company that makes high quality gear for dogs. We've done a review for them in the past and I'm a huge fan of their products. Their customer service is wonderful and their shipping is very fast. Our boots arrived the next day! Our Favorite Training Treats

Phoenix is patiently waiting for her treat!

It's time for the Positive Pet Training Blog Hop and it's also Tasty Tuesday! This month's theme for the PR Blog hop was "reviews" and I decided to share some of our favorite training treats. We do a lot of training and it's important to have treats that dogs absolutely love. It makes the training go by so much faster and they are more motivated to learn.

No Mischief!

I know it's Monday Mischief but unfortunately we have nothing to report! On Saturday we recovered from our hike and on Sunday we did some loose leash walking refresher training and I also did some work with them on the wobble board. It's been really quiet here! I hope everyone has an awesome day!

Huckleberry Wilderness

Yesterday we went hiking with my friend. The girls had a great time and even got some off leash running in. The trails were pretty deserted and it was really fun. I think everybody liked it!

The dogs had a great time running around on all of the fallen trees.

Phoenix posed on the top of the cliffs at the lookout point. Beyond this cliff was a beautiful field full of flowers. There wasn't a safe point for me to photograph them, though. It was recommended online to stay off the bluff trail so we didn't try to go down it. The girls are like mountain goats, though and they were fine. I know it looks really dangerous but right behind Phoenix is a little hill not a huge drop off.

The trail is considered "moderate" and I figured out why after a couple of miles. At first it was pretty meandering and you're just wandering through old growth forest with some stream crossings and rock hopping then it just starts going up and up and up. I don't really like doing gain hikes but it was more fun on the way back down. LOL!

Zoe was stuck on the leash for a while. She can be naughty around prey animals and she's generally a free spirit wanting to make her own paths. We wanted to make sure she was really "with us" before letting her do her thing. It worked out well and on the way back we ended up letting her go. She did listen to us while also doing her own thing so it was fine.

Phoenix was off the leash for most of the hike. She loves running up and down the trail between us and she's totally fine being loose. She actually did pretty amazing! On the way back to the car we came across two large off leash dogs and she passed them by with no issues and she didn't even get snarky when the one dog was being pushy. I am very proud of her!

There were so many beautiful wild flowers!

The trail got a little crazy, sort of off the side of this mountain and then there was another trail that went straight up so we decided to turn back and call it day. We probably did 6-ish miles but I can't be for sure because I couldn't get my gps to work. After our hike we had a nice picnic lunch but I didn't take any photos of it.

So that was our little hiking trip. I hope you're all having a great weekend!

Allergies Suck

This week was kind of a bummer for fitness. I mentioned yesterday that I haven't been feeling that great. My husband and I have both been having really bad allergy attacks. It's Portland and every flower here is blooming. It hasn't been that fun. At first I thought I was getting a cold but now I'm pretty sure it's allergies. I haven't been sleeping and it's just been crappy. When I don't sleep I have no desire to get up with my husband to share the car so we can go to the big park.
