Warm Your Pet after a Cold Outing with Bone Broth from THK

It's been pretty cold and miserable here! Let's face it. My dogs are princesses. They don't like the cold and winter walks are a total pain. Getting them warmed up after a walk in the rain is a must, so I was definitely excited when The Honest Kitchen asked me to review their new and improved Winter Warmer! Bone Broth with Tumeric is a functional liquid treat that can be served to both dogs and cats! Tumeric is a great ingredient and has been studied for it's antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties!

The Bone Broth can be served between meals, poured over kibble to add extra flavor, used to hydrate a meal from The Honest Kitchen or my favorite way is to give it as a treat after coming in from walking in the cold! The Broth is very versatile!

Ingredients Include: Beef bone broth, parsley, pumpkin, turmeric extract

Bone Broth is incredibly easy to make. You just add one heaping tablespoon into a cup of hot (not boiled) water and stir. Allow the product to cool to your pet's liking. My girls like it served warm.

Bone Broth is about 59 calories per cup and the directions are to give 1/4 cup per 25lbs of body weight. The package contains enough dry mix to make around 10 cups of broth.

Phoenix and Zoe share a cup of Bone Broth from THK

I usually make a full cup of this up and let the girls share it.

Zoe and Phoenix both really like the Bone Broth and they did having it. There were no tummy issues. I like that it's full of nourishing, mineral-rich ingredients and that it's really easy to make. It is green so I wouldn't recommend putting it down on lightly colored bedding (whoops) or light carpet. It could get messy.

Bone Broth is a great treat and I would recommend checking it out!

Have you ever tried The Honest Kitchen before with your pets? Did they like it?

ZoePhee was provided with a package of Bone Broth in exchange for an honest review. We were not monetarily compensated and all opinions are my own. The Honest Kitchen is not responsible for the content of this post.

  1. First we would need some cold weather! It's amazing they eat out of the same bowl. We could never make that work as all three of us eat so differently!

    1. That's awesome that it's not cold there yet. We only do certain treats out of the same bowl but when they eat their actual meal they are separated. :)

  2. I've never tried bone broth - I may have to give it a try! I've seen it at our local doggy/kitty food store, so will pick it up next time. Thanks for sharing your experience!

  3. I like this. Delilah is a good water drinker, but sometimes I don't think Sampson drinks as much as he should. I do sometimes add a little bit of water to his food and he drinks it then, but I really like this idea. I think it would also be good if someone weren't feeling well and hydrating was important.

    1. I worry about Zoe with drinking, too! So it's good having something around that I know she will drink! Yeah, you're definitely right this would be good for if someone wasn't feeling well, too!

  4. I tried to buy it at Chewy but they were out of stock. I am looking into maybe trying to make it myself, but I am pretty lazy and much prefer to have to only add water. ;)

  7. I think my dogs would really appreciate a warm drink or meal after being out in the cold. I never would have thought of it on my own, but I'm going to see if they like it this winter!

  11. This sounds really yummy! Mom isn't sure if I'd like to drink something warm though but the thought of giving it to us after our cold walks sounds good. By the way, we love the cold, winter walks are our favorite. Unfortunately we are having temps in the 50s! Love Dolly

  13. Is the texture like their normal foods? Mr. N also gets super cold after walks.

    1. It's a lot more watery than their normal foods. It's a broth so it's soupy.

  14. I am actually really excited about this! I have heard amazing things about tumeric because of its anti-inflammatory properties and Chuleta is so fickle when it comes to her food, this may be exactly what she needs! A warm treat for an old lady dog!

  15. I think Kilo would love that. I make him chicken broth and pumpkin or sweet potato soup. I love the ingredients. Tumeric is meant to be great for humans as well (I have bad arthritis). I'll look out for it.

  17. My dogs loved it! I use it to rehydrated Nola's Primal freeze dried food, or float her kibble. The other dogs just like it plain.
